Adventures in Potty Learning

By Holly McDonough

This dynamic curriculum covers all areas of development for the children in your care!

  1. Language/Prepositions: I have to go to the potty BEFORE I have an accident, not AFTER.
  2. Gross Motor Skills: I have to RUN to the potty to avoid accidents.
  3. Fine Motor Skills: I have to unhook these overalls, unsnap these jeans, unbutton these pants, etc.
  4. Social Skills (Team Learning): For greater success in #3, parents learn to dress child in easy to "unassemble" clothing, making the learning experience less frustrating for all.
  5. Emotional Development: "Hip-Hip Hoorays" will be plentiful from everyone as we cheer on a child’s success.
  6. Science:All little boys ask the question and must try a hands-on experiment (when least expected) to answer the age old question, "What happens when I pee on the grass?"
  7. Math: Counting trips to the potty, and counting, and counting . . . over and over again.
  8. Geography/Social Studies: Identifying potties in day care, home, shopping centers, etc. Children in most other countries go to the potty just like you do.
  9. Transportation: Children all get to the potty the same way—walking, running or in the arms of a provider dashing to avoid an accident.
  10. Music & Movement: This is the way we dance, dance, dance, when we have to go sooo bad.
  11. Art: We can wash and clean up just about any mess!
